INFORMATION FROM THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

At SCEYFL-AAU, our number one priority is the health and safety of all the members of the communities we serve. We know you have questions and we want to personally assure you that we are monitoring the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) closely. We are consulting health experts and monitoring expert recommendations, including guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, and local health officials.

Even with the uncertainty of the coronavirus (COVID-19), there has been no decision to alter football season at any level. We believe it is still too early. However, this is not to say that we should not adhere to the mandate being implemented by our governmental and medical officials. We will continue to monitor the situation and make changes accordingly. This could possibly have an impact our April meeting. We will advise as we get closer to the scheduled date. One method being considered for continuing with our meeting is to utilize conference call.

As for sign-ups, we ensure each chapter to use their discretion when determining how you will proceed with in person sign-ups. Most sign-ups involve less than 20 individuals being gathered

at one time. As a suggestion, we recommend trying alternative registration methods (on-line, mail, etc.) or schedule a meeting place and time while following recommended precautions.

In the event we are impacted much longer, we have created 3 separate proposals for

the 2020 season. These proposals are attached and we will discuss in detail if necessary.

We were planning on having the Cheer Directors and Athletic Directors (AD) meet in April; however, we may re-evaluate the situation as it relates to social gatherings/meetings and act

accordingly. Currently, we aren’t scheduled to officially start practicing until July, which gives us

more than 3 months to monitor the crisis. So, we will continue with our paperwork and

planning for the season. Please keep in mind that if the season is pushed back, home games dates submitted may need to be altered. Please establish a contingency plan.

We are in unchartered waters and decision can be difficult with have far-reaching ramifications and require some thoughtful discussion and education. We never thought we would see a time where the world. professional sports, daily lives and youth sports would be affected by a viral epidemic. The coronavirus (COVID-19) has wreaked havoc across the country and has caused changes to our social structure and interactions. At the professional level, the NFL have announced they will continue with their plans of hosting an in-person draft, and there has been no announcement of plans to alter the change of the season; other than to add the extra regular season game. The NBA has announced it is considering to re-start the season in June.

We hope all of you stay safe and healthy as well. We know these are uncertain and scary times, but we're trying to remain hopeful (yet realistic) and not let fear get the best of us. If you find yourself stuck in quarantine, working remotely, or at home with children out of school for an extended period, reach out and spread some positive words to your fellow neighbor!

Sincerely,

Ron Bellamy, CEO

Rod Henderson, President

Quintin Huff, General Manager
